Recently, I stopped reading books. At first, I thought my brain was full, and wasn’t accepting any more new content. Later, I realized that I was still accepting content, but not any more new non-exciting content.

This morning, I was catching up on emails and noticed two different ones pointing back to the Pragmatic Programmers website. While there, I’ve started a shopping list of some books that will be on my reading list in the upcoming year.

The first thing I’m going to pick up is ThoughtWorks Anthlogy. Essays about real life stuff really piques my interest, and real stuff about programming and managing the process of developing software sounds like a good read. Normally I shy away from these guys because they seem kinda “borgish”, but for some reason I’m really curious to see what they have to say.

After I digest the ThoughtWorks essays, I’m going to wait for Pragmatic Thinking and Learning: Refactor Your "Wetware". I am always looking for ways to improve my thought process, and I can’t say I have purchased a pragprog book that I haven’t liked, so I’m sure I will enjoy this one.

I will buy the PDF of Deploying Rails Applications: A Step-by-Step Guide only because I know Ezra. Plus, I’m sure that I will be able to glean something from this book. Easy deployment is one of the most important things for me when working with any project, so my deployments usually work better than the application itself

I’m an Apple groupie, and I enjoy everything they put out. More and more, I want to actually write applications for my Macs and my iPhone. Core Animation for OS X: Creating Dynamic Compelling User Interfaces looks like it will be enjoyable when I want to take a break from the programming that pays the bills.

Maybe I’ll go take a look at O’Reillys website at lunch time.
